Smash. Crash. Dash.

A fast, collectible NFC game. Scan your cards to unlock unique animations, voice lines, and weighted battle outcomes.

Physical Cards. Digital Outcome.

TAB Cards are premium physical collectibles with a digital outcome. Every card features a unique NFC chip that you easily use with your phone.

Use the Action Trigger (scan) on your character to reveal its battle fate. The online interface reads the card's unique Weighted Attributes to determine the weighted randomized outcome in an explosion of sound and animation.

Cards in action

The Three Outcomes

Grab an opponent and start your match by scanning your first card. Just remember—every card is weighted, but never guaranteed. A Smash today could Crash tomorrow.

Smash

Represents a Win. High impact, high power.

Crash

Represents a Loss. Shields break, plans fail.

Dash

Represents Evasion. Speed allows you to live to fight again.

Every card has different hidden probabilities for each outcome!

Objective

Get the most Smash (wins) cards points using your physical deck. Challenge a friend and let the Action Trigger (scan) decide your fate. But caution! Careful: today’s Smash could be tomorrow’s Crash!

Starting a Match

  • Each player chooses a card from their deck. Cards can either be shuffled into a face-down starting pile or held in hand and played directly—whichever option the players agree on before the game begins.
  • Both players tap their cards with the Action Trigger on their phone simultaneously (or in sequence).
  • The online Action Trigger (scan) reveals the animated fate based on your character's weight! Will it be Smash, Crash or Dash?

Action Results

The screen will reveal one of three animated outcomes:

Smash vs Crash

Smash defeats Crash. If the Action Trigger (scan) reveals your card Smashed and the opponent Crashed, you win.

Crash vs Smash

Crash loses to Smash. If the Action Trigger (scan) reveals you Crashed, you lose the round.

Dash Mechanics

Dash vs Smash/Crash:
You → Dash Pile.
Opponent → Trash.

Dash vs Dash (Double Dash): Both players place cards in their own Dash Piles face down.

Instant Replay: Only occurs on Smash/Smash or Crash/Crash.

End of Round: Dash Pile Resolution

At the end of the game, once all cards have been played, each player shuffles their Dash Pile, flips the top card and scans its Action Trigger to determine the fate of that entire pile.

  • Smash Result → Move all Dash cards to Smash Pile (Points)
  • Crash Result → Move all Dash cards to Crash Pile (No Points)
  • Dash ResultDouble Dash (Ignore / No Points)

*Note: Cards placed in the Trash pile during the game never resolve.

Scoring & Leaderboard

The system is simple:

  • 1 Game Win = 1 Point on the Global Leaderboard.
  • Confirm the match result online to update your ranking.

Not Just One Way To Play

TAB Cards allow alternate play styles, including quick single-card battles and higher-risk challenges—rules decided before the fight.

Flash Battle Mode (Hidden Card Play)

Flash Battles are fast, high-stakes matches using one TAB Card per player, with cards kept hidden until the battle begins.

  • Cards remain face down and unrevealed.
  • Agree on Match Format & Mode.

How to Play

FAQ

🔍

Talking Action Battle is a physical card game powered by NFC technology. Each card can be tapped to your phone to trigger a random animated outcome with character voices and sound, making every play unpredictable and unique.

No app is required. TAB Cards work directly in your mobile browser using your phone’s built-in NFC reader.

Yes. TAB Cards require an active internet connection to load animations, sounds, and outcomes. Both Wi-Fi and mobile data connections work.

Yes. TAB Cards are lightweight and work on standard cellular data as well as Wi-Fi.

Players should agree on the rules before starting. Common ways to begin include:

  • Placing all cards face down and drawing at random
  • Holding your own hand of cards and choosing which to play
  • Any agreed-upon method that keeps play fair

TAB is flexible—what matters is that all players agree before the first battle.

No. Each card has weighted attributes, meaning the same card can produce different outcomes each time it’s scanned. A card that Smashes today could Crash tomorrow.

  • Smash = Win
  • Crash = Lose
  • Dash = Evade (card goes into the Dash pile for later resolution)

These outcomes are randomly triggered when a card is scanned.

If both players reveal the same result (Smash vs Smash, Crash vs Crash, or Dash vs Dash), it’s an instant replay. Both players rescan new cards.

No. Trash and Crash do not score. If no Smash pile exists, the battle is a draw.

The Trash pile removes cards from play for that battle. Trash cards never resolve, never flip, and never score. A player with only Trash cards cannot win. If a battle ends with no Smash pile—only Trash, Crash, or Dash—the match is ruled a draw and must be replayed or continued by player agreement.

When a Dash occurs, the card goes into a separate Dash pile in front of the player, face down. At the end of the game, each player resolves their Dash pile by shuffling, flipping and scanning one card:

  • Smash: All Dash cards go to the Smash pile (points)
  • Crash: All Dash cards go to the Crash pile
  • Dash: No effect, cards are Double Dash (Ignore / No Points)

Try the following:

  • Hold the card steady for 1–2 seconds
  • Move the card slightly around the back of your phone
  • Remove thick phone cases or metal wallets
  • Make sure NFC is enabled in your phone’s settings

Different phones read NFC in different locations.

  • iPhone: Near the top back of the phone
  • Android: Usually near the center back

Think of it like Tap-to-Pay, but slower and steadier.

Simply try again. NFC scans are safe and can be repeated as many times as needed.

Yes—if all players agree. Some groups prefer blind play, while others allow previewing cards. Decide together before the game starts.

This is a built-in iOS security feature. On iPhones, when you scan a TAB Card, a banner appears at the top of the screen and you must tap it to open the experience. Apple requires this extra step to prevent unwanted links from opening automatically.

On most Android devices, the link may open immediately without an extra tap.

This behavior is controlled by the phone’s operating system and cannot be changed. TAB Cards are designed to work smoothly on both platforms—just tap the banner on iPhone to continue.

Yes. You can scan cards on your own to explore animations, test outcomes, or practice strategies.

TAB is designed for 2 players, but it can be adapted for more with agreed-upon rules.

Yes. Cards come in Common, Uncommon, and Rare versions, each with different power balances and rarity.

Yes. Some cards may unlock new animations, sounds, or behaviors over time. The physical card stays the same, but the digital experience can evolve.

New cards and sets are released in waves. Check the official TAB website for announcements.

No. NFC chips are passive and do not wear out through normal use.

TAB is a social game. Fair play depends on player agreement and trust—just like traditional card games. Players should set expectations before playing.

TAB Cards feature animated characters and sound effects. Content varies by set. Parental discretion is recommended.

Players can log battles, confirm matches, and view rankings on the official Talking Action Battle leaderboard:
